Harold Scheffer has been working as an artist since 1988. In his early years he mainly made masks and paintings, inspired by Kenya.
In 2002 he changed style, resulting in the now recognisable Harold Scheffer birds.
Connoisseurs saw influences from Picasso, Karel Appel and Corneille. The whimsical lines, relief and especially the cheerful color palette made his work so strong! Huge bird objects were given a place on the wall of numerous large companies in the Netherlands.
The famous Blue Bird cloths evolved, inspired with ingredients from the Caribbean. The sea, with turquoise and azure waters and the snow-white beaches formed a beautiful series of canvases. His 2D and 3D works have been featured in several Dutch TV programs and in the weekly AVRO programma Opium tv.
